In a heartbreaking turn of events, an 11-year-old girl from a British family was fatally shot while playing in her garden in France, reportedly as a result of a dispute between neighbors. The incident occurred during a peaceful barbeque evening in the village of Saint-Herbot, located north of Quimper in Brittany.
According to local media, the girl’s parents also sustained injuries, with the father being seriously hurt. The United Kingdom has announced its provision of assistance to the grieving British family.
The tragic incident unfolded as the girl and her eight-year-old sister were enjoying themselves on a swing while their parents tended to the barbeque. Shockingly, a neighbor began firing at them with a shotgun through a hedge.
In a moment of bravery, the younger sister rushed to a neighboring house to seek help, leaving her in a state of shock. Meanwhile, the suspect, described as a 71-year-old Dutch national, initially barricaded himself inside his residence following the shooting. However, he eventually surrendered to the authorities, and both he and his wife were apprehended by the police.
Local residents revealed that the man had a reputation for being reclusive and had been involved in a land dispute with the British family over adjoining properties. The family had been residing in the village for several years, as reported by local media.
